Did Genevieve Nnaji Diss Nollywood? Read Her Reaction to Reports

Genevieve Nnaji is a proud product of Nollywood, and says she will never diss the movie industry.

In an interview with Punch Newspaper, Genny spoke on why she does not star in a lot of Nollywood productions.

“I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity.

Having practised my art in international and professionally produced stories like “Ije“, “Mirror Boy” and “Tango with Me“, I don’t think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity that characterised Nollywood in the past.” she said.

Since the interview was released, many have attacked Gene and called her “ungrateful” and “snotty” for looking down on the industry which brought her fame and fortune. Now the Nollywood superstar has responded via Instagram. She shared this image alongside this note.

“I never called my industry bland and mediocre. Truth or not, they were NOT MY WORDS. As a person/writer, you can “assume” what you like about my thought process but DO not project those thoughts as “quotes” by me.

It’s distasteful, insensitive and quite unprofessional. It’s insulting to those limited few working hard to make a difference in the industry. I am a product of Nollywood and my loyalty remains unshaken.”

"I did not open a sex toyshop. I sell men and women under wears and a few other things. I also have a section for body massage, body polish and other things that are related to that. On the issue of sex toys, I have this to say, if I sell sex toys so what? Nigerians are a bunch of hypocrites. They make issues out of non-issues. When I travelled to London I saw some newly wedded couples buying sex toys but back here, Nigerians believe that those that buy sex toys are harlots. In fact, there is dignity in the use of sex toys.I am not into the sales of only sex toys but there is a big market for them."

Adokiye has new competition.. Nollywood actress Seyi Hunter who has been in films like Broken Fixtures, My Club, MM Girls, says she is a virgin..When asked by Vanguard she said..

"I’m not looking for a stinkingly rich man. If he has allthe money without good attributes, then he’s not for me.I like humble people. So, he has to be humble, God-fearing, extremely nice, very romantic and loving.Yes. I was attracted to him(her boyfriend) because of the fact that he’s born again, spoils me with gifts and puts my needs before his own 

When asked which is more important between money and sex..she said..

I know nothing about sex, I’m a virgin. Money is more important to me in a relationship.

I just want to be left alone to take care of my Child. Stella I wasn't married I was engaged to be married but as things stand now, the engagement is officially broken due to irreconcilable differences and since I am having my baby soon, my Doctors has advised me to rest as my health and that of my Baby is the most important thing right now..  

On who called off the union...She said

..Yes i am the one walking out on the pack of lies,I am not going to pretend because i want to be married,i am not desperate and i would rather swallow my pride and accept i made a big mistake than forge ahead in lies.I am sorry i cannot go into details because i do not want to trade words or run my ex down because he is the father of the child i am carrying.

I am sorry if keeping quiet misled people into my status was already married.The excitement of looking forward to birthing my child kinda numbs the shock and disappointment but i will be fine.
