
LagosPhoto Foundation is pleased to
announce the endorsement of the 2013 LagosPhoto Festival by the Lagos
State Ministry of Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations.
On May 8, 2013, Azu Nwagbogu; Director, LagosPhoto met with the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations, Fadipe Ashamu Sewanu to finalize the long awaited endorsement deal between the Lagos State government and LagosPhoto Foundation for LagosPhoto Festival 2013.
This is in line with the ministry’s set vision of encouraging private sector initiatives on tourism that drive in showcasing artistic excellence in Lagos State. This milestone will enable LagosPhoto Foundation achieve the objectives of contributing to the education of youths in Lagos and beyond, and creating a distinct approach to photography and art exhibitions that reflect and pay homage to African culture.
LagosPhoto Festival 2013 themed The Megacity and the Non-City is scheduled to last for a month commencing with a Grand Opening ceremony/Exhibition on 26 October, 2013 showcasing images depicting this year’s theme. Indoor and outdoor spaces around Lagos will be utilized this year, making this festival accessible to the broader public.
ABOUT LAGOSPHOTO
Launched in 2010, LagosPhoto is the first and only international arts festival of photography in Nigeria. In a month long festival, events include exhibitions, workshops, artist presentations, discussions, screenings, and large scale outdoor prints displayed throughout the city with the aim of reclaiming public spaces and the general public with multifaceted stories of Africa. LagosPhoto presents a contemporary and historical visual essay of the continent to both a local and global audience.
