This Initiative was brought about by 3ra'fique communications and Ali Baba, they joined forces so as to eradicate malaria using football as a means of communicating to the general public, It had a blend of Sports, entertainment and comedy, which made the arena alive. The event held saturday 27th of April 2013 at the , It was a star studed event as top notch comedians were present, Ace On-air personalities and a host of other celebrities. 3RA’FIQUE COMMUNICATIONS, ALI BABA FIGHT MALARIA WITH SOCCER
As part of efforts to
commemorate the 2013 World Malaria Day, 3ra’fique Communications, a
wholly independent Marketing Communications organization based in Lagos,
Nigeria, hosted a novelty football match between Comedians and On Air
Personalities from Radio and TV stations on Saturday, the 27th of April
at the Campos mini stadium Lagos Island from 3PM to 6PM.
The initiative tagged ‘Join the Cast’ is in partnership with foremost comedian, Ali Baba GCFR, and is aimed at leveraging on the appeal of soccer to deliver Malaria prevention messages whilst mobilizing communities against Malaria.
Irabor
Okosun, CEO 3ra’fique Communications said: “Malaria is both a cause and
consequence of poverty. Football on the other hand is the most popular
sport in the world and Nigerians love it. The appreciation of the sport
offers a boundless platform that provides a holistic viewpoint for
upholding health awareness fights.”
At the venue, there were free
mobile platforms provided by 3ra’fique Communications for the Society
for Family Health and the Lagos State Ministry of Health for Rapid
Diagnostic Testing (RDT) that was set up to properly test and treat
people positive with Malaria through the new malaria remedy -Artemisilin
Combination Therapy (ACT).
Mr.
Okosun said, “Malaria Kills 655,000 people each year, 86% of which are
children and It is on this ground that we are inviting Nigerians of all
ages to join in the fight against the disease by coming out to
participate in this soccer match, even as we continue to work towards
transforming the lives of the less privileged and eliminating untimely
deaths caused by the Malaria malaise.”
The
novelty football match is designed to educate, entertain and empower
Nigerians with unique up-to-date methods of preventing Malaria in
Nigeria. Other health workers and medical professionals were on ground
at the stadium to provide treatment and counselling to spectators and
participants at the venue.
The
World Malaria Day novelty football match is supported by a number of
partners including Cool FM, Wazobia FM, Nigeria Info FM, Beat FM, Rhythm
FM, Silverbird Group, City FM, Bella Naija, Fresh Wave Channel, Orbit
Imagery, Mortein, Fly Naija, Society for Family Health, The Lagos State
Ministry of Health etc.
