Humbled by Netherlands and now dismantled by Chile.
Chile were sensational tonight, from the start they pressed Spain and managed to take their chances.
On the other hand Darren, Spain were woeful. Who was worse Costa or Casillas? Hard to make that call.

"The 486 people arrested in Abia are not Boko haram,stop arresting Northerners"- AYCF warns South-East Governors

 

After the arrest of 486 suspected Boko Haram terrorists on the 15th of June in Abia State, the President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum(AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima, told Punch they are not Boko Haram members..

“This gives us a lot of worry. Are these South-East governors or whoever is at the helms of affairs doing this in the interest of this country or to cause more hatred for our people, so that the country will break up?Those who are acting out this script of disintegration are not helping this country, especially at this challenging period.We are not in support of Boko Haram or their bomb attacks. We are saying that innocent citizens should not suffer because some evil-minded people come from their area. I can tell you that those who were arrested in Abia are not Boko Haram members. We had a case where about 500 people arrested in Lagos. I intervened and on getting to the force headquarters, we discovered that most of them were innocent and they were released.We are not saying security agencies should not do their work, but they should not go about arresting hundreds of people just because they are looking for one or two suspects.”

If you recall, they were being transported in over 33 Hiace Hummer buses at night when soldiers intercepted them ,and when interrogated,they said they were going to look for work...Today, it was revealed that a major Boko Haram wanted figure was among the group..

Adamawa State Governor Served with Impeachment Notice

The Adamawa House of Assembly has served the governor of the state, Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Bala Ngilari with an impeachment notice. 

The notice which was signed by 19 of the 25 members of the Assembly, was served on grounds of  “gross misconduct,” Vanguard reports.

Commenting on the situation, Nyako stated the following via Ahmad Sajoh, his Director of Press and Public Affairs:

“Members of the House are planning something that will end up making them the sole beneficiaries, where the Speaker will be the acting governor and the deputy speaker becomes the deputy governor.” 

According to reports, Nyako was served with a similar impeachment notice in 2008

Life & Style is claiming that Kim Kardashian bragged to her nannies that her one year old daughter North West, is cuter than Beyonce's two year old daughter, Blue Ivy.

Kardashian Reality TV Show Ratings are Reportedly “Krashing”

The world isn’t exactly “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” like before.

E! Entertainment‘s most popular show is allegedly struggling.

The reality TV show follows the lives of the Kardashian sisters including Kim, Kourtney and Khloe, as well as their mom Kris Jenner, step sisters Kylie and Kendall, brother Rob Kardashian and step dad Bruce Jenner.

Yahoo TV reports that the numbers for the kick off of the second half of the show’s ninth season were down following last week’s new episode.

June 8 episode titled – “Let It Go” with the big Kourtney baby announcement, garnered only 1.1 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic. The June 15 episode – “Color Me Lonely” saw a rise, with 2 million viewers.

The fluctuating numbers is said to be a far cry from Kim and Kris Humphries’ wedding in 2009 with 4.1 million viewers, and Kim’s baby show episode which drew in 3 million overall viewers.

Although the numbers are still high, the statistics however reveal that if the trend continues the reality show will be below the 1.5 million mark for overall viewers.Are you still watching the show? Let’s talk

OAU shut down following days of students' protest over school fees

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has been closed down indefinitely following days of students' protest over increase in their school fees which was the introduced in May.

The school administration this afternoon released a statement announcing an indefinite shutdown of the institution and ordered students to vacate its premises by Thursday afternoon, citing 'persistent disruption of normal activities and peace on campus as a result of violent demonstrations by students, led by the Student Union Executive' as their reason for shutting down the school. 

"Consequently, all students are directed to vacate their Halls of Residence and the University premises immediately and not later than 12 noon on Thursday, 19th June, 2014. Parents are hereby enjoined to ensure that their children/wards comply with this directive immediately.” the statement read.

2 women jailed 5 months each for slapping a police man in Abuja

 

An Upper Area court in Zuba, FCT, on Wednesday sentenced two women – Binta Mamman, 35, and Safiya Aliyu, 19, both of Deidei, Abuja, to five months imprisonment for slapping a police man.

The women had also been charged with using abusive language and public nuisance.

Malam Aminu Sa’ad, the presiding judge, handed down the sentence after the women pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of criminal force and assault, use of abusive language and public nuisance.

Sa’ad ruled that on the first count of criminal force and assault, the convicts shall serve a jail term of one month each without an option of fine. Continue...
