"The WHO has advised within 60 days we must ensure 70% of infected people are in a care facility and 70% of burials are done without causing further infection," said Anthony Banbury, the UN's deputy Ebola coordinator, but Mr Banbury told the UN Security council that the 70% target was becoming harder to meet as a new infection stacks up. He urged: ''We either stop ebola now or we face an entirely unprecedented situation for which we do not have a plan. ''The UN's Unmeer emergency mission is following a four-prolonged plan to fight Ebola.

BREAKING: BRT Buses burnt down on Ikorodu Road in Lagos

According to various eyewitness accounts expressed via Twitter, multiple BRT buses have reportedly been set ablaze on Ikorodu road in Lagos.

Although there are yet to be confirmed reports of what caused the incident, it is being alleged that soldiers went on rampage after one of them was killed by a BRT bus. Other accounts state that the soldier was not killed, but was left in critical condition after the accident.

Nigerian man jailed for 8yrs in the UK for scamming pensioners with fake lottery

A fraudster nicknamed 'Fizzy' because of his love of champagne has been jailed for eight years for conning vulnerable pensioners out of their life savings. 

Frank Onyeachonam ran the UK end of global lottery scam that was orchestrated from his native Nigeria for seven years to fund his lavish millionaire’s lifestyle. 

It involved hundreds of perpetrators in several countries, detectives say.

In the UK, 38-year-old Onyeachonam conned pensioners out of sums from £2,000 to £600,000, deliberately targeting his victims because they were potentially vulnerable to his tactics.

Today Thursday 3rd July 2014, makes it day 80 since the school girls in the Chibok area were abducted by the Boko Haram sect.

In an interview with Sahara Reporters, Senator Khalifa Ahmed Zanna of Borno Central said that the girls are being raped while someone films them.

The interview was recorded on the 24th of June in New York, but was released today.

The Senator also spoke about the condition of the girls, conspiracy theories surrounding the Islamist militant group, and that the President needs to change priorities.

On the Harrowing conditions he believes the Chibok Girls are Facing

“Actually the information I’m getting, some of them are very disturbing. Although I don’t want to mention but they are just raping the girls on camera and even showing them on video, releasing it to the public.

Somebody told me that they were shown being raped, and in turn, it is the girl who was raped that came out kneeling down and begging the man to be patient. Do you know the reason why? They said when they rape them they shoot them.

Therefore the girl after being raped, she curled down to the man, kneeling down and begging him to please be patient. So disturbing.

And although I didn’t see the video, the person narrated to me, he said he had the video, and he was narrating to me, and look at the situation. And then the other scenario is that the Boko Haram are now out of funds, they are not getting enough food.

So they are going from one village to another, taking the little the villagers had, and going away. In fact most of the villages are almost moved out of their villages and moved to cities or gone into the neighbouring countries. So more or less they don’t have any chance of getting food. So I don’t know what they’re going to do, if food is not available are they going to sacrifice to give it to the girls.

And then, the other information I have, because you know the kidnap is a continuous process which they have been doing before the 200 and after the 200. So in their position, there are up to 500 or over 500 women who are being taken from the streets, on the main roads where they are traveling, or they go to the villages and collect them; all kinds of abductions.”

Sometimes we remain single for so long that we begin to get anxious and almost get desperate that we do things that eventually turn the men off rather than turn them on.

Then we begin to think there is something very wrong with us and we begin to get depressed. Well, hold on, any of these reasons might be why you are chasing the men away.

1. Playing hard to get- except you are in secondary school and you are still foolish enough to believe that the harder you are to get, the better guy you pull or the more the guy would love you, I do not see the reason why a grown ass woman should play this game. If you like someone, then show it, let him know. A little flirting never hurt nobody. Once the guy shows his interest in you, he clearly wants something. So how about trying to find out what that is, rather than playing hard to get like a JSS1 student.
2. Too much make up- Maybe because I am the girl who does not believe in too much make up, I really do not get why ladies spend half a day in front of the mirror, painting their faces and putting so much effort into having a colorful face rather than putting an effort into a great attitude. I am not saying don’t wear makeup, I am saying do not spend so much time and effort on makeup you hide your own beauty in the process. Makeup should enhance your beauty, not hide what you have.
3. Revealing too much- Oh yes you are not playing hard to get, you are a full grown woman who shows the man she loves that she loves him and you want him to see all the assets you’ve got. So you wear a dress you can barely breathe in, put the twins on full display and wear heels taller than a nepa pole to your date, hoping to get the guy with it. Well, one thing you will be getting for sure, is the D. other things like commitment and a real relationship? I can’t say.
4. Being Unreal- Take the real you to your date with Mr Potential and not the fake you. If for some reason, you don’t take the real you, then better be ready to be the unreal you for the duration of time that relationship lasts. Because if you don’t, the day he finds out, you will be in real trouble.
5. Don’t starve or try too hard to look sexy- No sucking in of stomach fat so much you can’t breathe, no using laxatives to purge yourself of whatever just because you want to appear sexy when you are around this guy. Men love women with curves. At least I know for a fact that African men appreciate curves. Nobody wants to have a woman who looks like she has not eaten since she was a baby, so don’t force yourself to stay off food.
6. They don’t believe in themselves- They think the potential Mr Right is too good to be true, because his credentials rival that of Mark Zuckerberg and his body rivals that of David Beckham and because his future is as bright as Obama’s. if you don’t believe in yourself and that you deserve the best, then you will honestly never get the best. You only get what you believe you deserve. Build your self esteem first before going on that date/meeting that man and the rest is as easy as a piece of cake.

Yesterday, the senate confirmed the appointment of new ministerial nominees, including: Ibrahim Shekarau – a former governor of Kano State, Abdul Bulama (Yobe), Adedayo Adeyeye (Ekiti), and Stephen Orhu(Delta).

The nominees answered questions posed by the senate regarding the state of the nation, Tribune reports.

Although their respective opinions varied about the subject matter, they all unanimously agreed that there needs to be a review of the country’s educational system in order to more effectively solve problems of unemployment, insurgency, and poverty.

'Obanikoro, PDP aiding Boko Haram' - Bola Tinubu fires back

National leader of the APC and former governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu has reacted to the allegations made against him by the Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro yesterday July 2nd. Obanikoro in a series of tweets had alleged that Tinubu's friends created the Boko Haram mess being experienced in Nigeria today.

In a statement released last night through his media aide, Tinubu refuted the allegations, saying it is the PDP and Obanikoro that are aiding Boko Haram. Find his statement after the cut...

"The defence budget to fight Boko Haram and terrorism has become a conduit pipe for the ruling party PDP just as the likes of Obanikoro continue to use Boko Haram as a tool of blackmail against the opposition. This time , just like it failed in the past, it will not stick. It will not stand. It is the PDP-led government in which Obanikoro is an active and pliable agent that is perpetrating the insurgency for pecuniary benefits. This government has no shame. It lacks the moral authority to point fingers at individuals or the opposition. The country is literally on tenterhooks and all the PDP can do is lie to Nigerians in order to cover up its failures.

“Obanikoro’s allegation that Tinubu and his friends in the opposition created Boko Haram is both fallacious and untenable. It is the kind of fable that can only come  out of the mouth of someone who is delusional. One whose intoxication with power is not in  doubt. This allegation is both unreasonable and unsustainable, but not surprising coming from the person it came from. Bola Tinubu and the APC have been on record repeatedly condemning killings and bombings by Boko Haram and proffering solutions to the menace.

“The PDP is preparing the grounds for its next round of hounding opposition leaders, militarising our cities and violating the democratic rights of Nigerians to move freely. This is political Boko Haram of which the PDP is the Chief Architect.
